2009 Dirler-Cade Pinot Gris Bux Grains de Soleil - France, Alsace (12/3/2015)Tasted over two nights, this is a more elegant expression of SGN style Pinot Gris than I am used to, and I am quite happy about that. Fresh and dried peach fruit, brown spices and a clear hit of brown sugar make this a true dessert in a glass. What I really like is that the flavors linger, but not with any extreme heaviness on the palate. Nicely done.

I am familiar with the term "Selection de Grains Nobles" in Alsace but not the one you use. Is it a new, approved term?

It's just a fantasy name the producer used because they did not think it was quite SGN enough.

Totally agree about their SGN style.
Had some months ago the Gewurztraminer Grand Cru Kessler SGN 2009 and it was a feather, all about flowers and freshness. Excellent.
