Tried this last night after my Ioppa fail:
1. Odisea Cochon Syrah MasaRanch/Yountville/NapaVlly (130 cs; 3% Viognier; 14.5%; www.cochonwines.com) Napa 2007: Very dark color; very strong blueberry/blackberry/Syrah quite spicy/peppery light toasty/oak bit complex quite attractive nose; rather tart bit lean/hard strong blueberry/blackberry/Syrah/spicy/peppery very light Fr.oak somewhat complex flavor w/ light lean tannins; very long fairly tart/lean strong blueberry/blackberry/Syrah/peppery light toasty/oak very spicy finish w/ light lean tannins; lovely peppery/blueberry aromatics and a rather tense/wirey Syrah w/ a lot of nervosity; reminds a bit of Lagier-Meredith because of the spiciness but not the richness of a L-M; probably near its peak or beyond. $32.00

1. Odisea/Cochon is the partnership of AdamWebb and MikeKuenz. They specialize in Iberian & Rhone varieties from purchased grapes,The "Cochon" refers to the 300-litre Fr.oak hogsheads they age their Rhone wines in. These two are originally from KansasCity, where I first encountered their wines. I've sorta lost track of their wines and need to go back & make a renewal of our connection.
