2014 Idlewild The Bird Red - USA, California, North Coast, Mendocino County (12/1/2015)What to have with pizza? This wine is your answer. Sweet cherry fruit, dusty herbal mid palate and some sneaky gripping tannins in the finish make this a great food companion. Excellent value at $22. The level of fruit makes me figure on a good 3-5 years of profitable drinking.
It's a blend of Dolcetto, Nebbiolo and Barbera.

I'm not sure I'll be able to keep any of my bottles of this wine around 3-5 years!

It had some really sneaky tannins that crept up after about an hour. I think it is worth holding a couple of bottles.
