This seemed like a very good price for a Nebbiolo, so I sprung for it:
1. Ioppa Nebbiolo DOC: CollineNovarese (14%; GiulianaImports/Boulder) Gianpiero e Giorgie Romagnano/Sesia 2011: Med.light color; rather earthy/loamy light pungent/tarry very slight floral/lilacs/Nebb rather quiet nose; quite tart/lean/austere/eviscerated light earthy/tarry/pungent rather dull/no-fruit flavor w/ light bitey tannins; med.short tart/austere/lean/thin/metallic/tangy bit pungent/tarry finish w/ light astringent tannins; speaks w/ a whine of Nebb but pretty bland/innocuous stuff; a classic Oakland wine.."There's no there/there"; overpriced at any price. $14.50 (KK)

A wee BloodyPulpit:
1. I've had a couple of Ioppa wines that I liked a lot and were quite well priced...including a Vespolina. So I had high hopes for this wine. At that price, I didn't think it'd be anything profound. It failed to deliver. A rare stumble by GuilianaImports.
