2001 Hexamer Meddersheimer Rheingrafenberg Riesling Auslese - Germany, Nahe (11/21/2015)
Nearly three years since my last bottle, and this has blossomed into a richer and more flavorful wine than at any time since initial release. Smoky, peachy and light cherry elements dominate the nose on opening, then are supplemented by a squirt of citrus (Orange) and brown spices. The palate is medium to full bodied, where it had been what I considered a "small wine" the last many years. Bright acidity balances the ample sweetness, and the finish is long, long. Best showing ever for this bottling and quite delicious.
