Always a sucker for a new wine from the Savoie, last night tried:
1. Bernard et Christophe Richel Apremont Ad'OP: Savoie (100% Jacquere; 11.5%; VendangesManuelles; MeBalP; www.producteursdesavoie.com/richel.html) StBaldoph 2014: Pale yellow near colorless; light appley stony/mineral/metallic rather simple Jacquere nose; very tart/lean appley/stony/metallic/tangy light rather watery/thin/insipid flavor w/ little character; short tart/lean/metallic light appley/stony finish; mostly apple & stone & acid; a rather thin/lean/eviscerated example of Jacquere. $17.00 (WF)

A wee BloodyPulpit:
1. Jacquere is a variety that originated in the French Alps. GouaisBlanche is one of its parents. It tends to make rather pleasant mineral-laden wines. This example struck me as pretty neutral & characterless, more so than most examples. Not a variety they should be planting all up&down the coast of Calif.
They also make a Mondeuse which I will try if I see it...but w/ low expectations.
