Wanted something heavier than Schiava w/ my risotto, so cracked:
1. Carlisle Syrah PelkanRanch/KnightsVlly (15.55; 135 cs) 2004: Very dark/black color; very strong toasty/Fr.oak intense blackberry/Syrah/boysenberry/very spicy slight peppery/blueberry very intense nose; soft intense blackberry/blueberry/Syrah/licorice/very spicy RCCola/DrPepper/bit peppery some toasty/charred/Fr.oak bit ozone/pungent bit complex flavor w/ ample hard/structured tannins; very long/lingering soft intense blueberry/blackberry/Syrah DrPepper/RCCola/spicy very rich/lush/structured strong charred/toasty/oak/smokey finish w/ ample ripe/hard tannins; not much complexity & developing at a glacial pace; shows very little of the alcohol (characteristic of a Carlisle); a classic Carlisle Syrah w/ well-managed tannins; needs another 6-12 yrs, maybe beyond.

Used up my quota of BloodyPulpits for today.

Yeah, Brian....I thought the oak was a bit heavier than I usually like. But that is sort of
a Carlisle signature.
