WTN: PeterPaul Zin SerracinoVnyd '05...(short/boring)

by TomHill » Wed Nov 11, 2015 11:45 am

After four from my orphan stash went down the drain, I plucked this out of my tasting queue:
1.PeterPaulWines Zin SerracinoVnyds/DryCreekVlly (14.8%; www.PeterPaulWines.com) 2005: Dark color; strong spicy/Zin/raspberry/blackberry bit licorice/peppery light toasty/smokey/oak bit RCCola quite attractive nose; tart/lean/tangy strong raspberry/blackberry/Zin/spicy/licorice/RCCola light dusty/OV bit toasty/oak quite attractive/spicy flavor w/ light/tangy tannins; rather tart/tangy very spicy/DCVZin/raspberry/blackberry/RCCola some toasty/pencilly/oak finishw/ light gentle tannins; probably at its peak or a bit beyond; much in the style of a Nalle or Mauritson Zin; not a profound Zin but lip-smackin' good. $17.00 (PrimaIlC)

A wee BloodyPulpit:
1. This is a wine that showed up in my PrimaIlConsorzia shipment some 6-7 yrs ago. Never heard of this wnry and it fell into the abyss of my tasting queue collection.
PeterPaul is a financial guy whose father introduced him to wine & he fell in love w/ it. Winemaker is JeffMorgan, formerly an editor of WineSpec. I gather they no longer make this wine. The SerracinoVnyd is all Zin and planted in 1910.
