2001 Château Lagrange (St. Julien) - France, Bordeaux, Médoc, St. Julien (11/2/2015)
This is exactly what I look for in Bordeaux, well defined and statuesque, enough fruit, but only just enough, tannins that frame the wine and maybe even stick out a bit, and a long, lingering finish of fruit, cedar and smoke. I wish I had bought two cases, so that I could follow the wine over the next 10-15 years.

Will have to check and see if I have any 01 Lagrange! I bought quite a bit of 2001--the wines were ridiculously cheap and have been showing so well. And I know I own several vintages of Lagrange.

back in the day when I was still buying Bordeaux, (last vintage was 1990), Lagrange was a frequent buy..often overlooked by those hunting for trophy wines but a very consistent and satisfying wine.

I'm a big Lagrange fan.
Looks like I paid $20 for the '01, seems low (paid upper $3os for the 2000, $26 for 2004, etc)
Will open an '01 soon
'96s are beginning to drink nicely

My 2001 Lagrange was $22.

I paid $27 for the 2000.

CHEAP!

Unfortunately, CellarTracker tells me I only have the '05. (An odd thing, as I didn't really buy into that vintage at all--it seemed so overpriced--just the odd bottle here or there like Cos and PC because I stumbled over them somewhere at a good price.) I know I have more than just 05.
