Tried these two at dinner last night:
1. LompocWineCo Chard StaRitaHills (13%) R.Parr&S.Moorman/Lompoc 2013: Med.light gold color; attractive melony/Chard/perfumed talc/spicy some toasty/tobaccoy/Fr.oak rather attractive nose; quite tart/tangy/grapefruity/lemony/citric light tobaccoy/oak rather melony/Chard flavor; long tart/acid/tangy/saline/lemony/citric/grapefruity some Chard/melony light tobaccoy/Fr.oak finish; a quite savory/saline Chard but seems a bit lean/spare/eviscerated and not sure that it has the stuffing to turn into something good w/ age; seems overpriced for a "value" wine. $35.00 (AV)

2. IlChiosso DOC: Fara (90% Nebb/5% Vespolina/5% UvaRara; 14%; IlChiosso ; ViasImports ) Gattinara 2010: Med.color; strong Nebb/plummy/floral/lilacs slight tarry/pungent/road tar bit earthy/mushroomy/smokey lovely Nebb nose; quite tart/lean/hard/austere some Nebb/plummy/lilacs/floral some road tar/pungent/smokey bit bretty/unclean flavor w/ ample hard/angular tannins; long quite acid/tangy/hard/austere strong Nebb/plummy/ripe/floral/lilacs some pungent/road tar finish w/ ample hard/unyielding tannins; not much fun to drink now but you can only hope that 5-15 yrs of age will do wonders for this wine; quite a big wine for Gattinara.

2. IlChiosso: This is the 2'nd time I've had this wine. Thought it showed more floral Nebb aromatics this time than 2 mo. ago. Still....it's a huge/hard rendition of Nebb that badly needs time.
