Bought this at a small wine shop in Teglio on our way out of the Valtelline and tried at our Hotel (Garni Franca) in Wolkenstein w/ some German folks we befriended there:
1, Cantina Produttori Cormons DOC: Schioppettino Friuli Colli Orientali (13%; http://www.Cormons.com) Cormons 2013: Med.light color; bit earthy/loamy/musty/fusty some black peppery/black cherry/herbal slight smokey/pungent rather interesting Schio nose; rather tart/lean some peppery/black cherry cola bit loamy/fusty/unclean bit weak/eviscerated flavor w/ light sharp/lean/bitey tannins; med.long rather loamy/fusty/earthy light black cherry/cola/peppery/herbal finish w/ light bitey/angular tannins; speaks some of Schioppettino but not a great example of what Schioppettino can do. A wee BloodyPulpit:
1. Schioppettino is one of my favorite varieties from Friuli. It's a variety that should be being planted all up&down the coast of Calif. The story of Schioppettino:
Schioppettino/Cialla
This wine was one of the more ordinary examples I've tried. Didn't hold a candle to thos we tried w/ Ivan at Ronchi di Cialla a week later.
