WTN: 2008 A. P. Vin Pinot Noir Rancho Ontiveros...

Vineyard, Santa Maria Valley, Santa Barbara County, CA. 14.5% abv. Bottled with a screwcap. Winemaker Andrew P. Vingiello. Black or purple berries in the flavor profile. I must have liked this better at the tasting at a local restaurant several years ago or maybe it is past its prime. It seemed a bolder profile than favor currently. Tastes bold, a bit harsh, and spicy.
Last week I drank one of my 2011 LaRue Wines Sonoma Coast Pinot Noir bottles. It was also quite spicy with dark fruit and savory notes. I enjoyed this one but will leave the next bottle until at least 2016.

If I remember correctly, Andrew is looking at a 5-7 year window past vintage, which puts your bottle right on the edge.

I have a couple of his wines from the 2009 vintage. Maybe I better schedule them for consumption in the near future.
