WTN; Duckhorn and Dry Creek

2012 Dry Creek Vineyards Spencers Hill Zinfandel. Lively, fruit forward zinfandel saved from jammyness by moderate alcohol and a bright acidic core that made the juiciness come out. A nice savory note as well. Nice wine, even for non-zin PIPB people like my self

2011 Duckhorn Cabernet Sauvignon. Decent cool year Napa wine. Enjoyable with steak. Was a gift to my friends, but not really worth the high tariff otherwise, but certainly pleasant enough.

I do not categorically love zinfandel, but I would be more inclined to if they were all like Dry Creek Zins. On a recent trip through the area I also fell in love with zins from a producer called Fritz. Since we were travelling in our Fritz, I bought a few bottles for a 'house' wine.

Dry Creek, Russian River, and, believe it or not, Napa Valley are highlight areas for me. The Dry Creek zins can be huge from certain producers (if you see a gaudy banner advertising Gold Medals!!!!!
RUN!
...I do not like the Wilson wines, and the zins from the stable of multiple once-artisanal wineries all taste the same!)

But there are good wines everywhere-in the oddest places.

I have never stopped at Fritz. Will probably be that way on Saturday, so may stop by! (A Jenise reco is always a good one! 8) )

They did turn the Soda Creek place in Alexander Valley into a showplace!,

They have better taste in design (and the money to implement it!) than in winemaking.
