Small producer in Sonoma County I caught just before closing-Wellington Vineyards. I've read in tasting notes about meat "gameyness" and "bacon" being characteristic of many Syrahs. I haven't tasted that really until today! Very, very interesting 2002 Reserve Sonoma Valley Syrah. Solid ***, with richness (and not too much oak!!!!) and layers of flavor. A very nice wine, and it's nice to actually taste something in the wine lovers' lexicon!
