And the miscellany:
2011 Emeritus Vineyards Pinot Noir Hallberg Ranch Russian River Valley
Still enjoyable but has faded over the past year and doesn't show signs of long-haul potential. Drink up.
2013 Ayoub Chardonnay Dundee Hills
Medium yellow. Reticent aromatically with a faint note of something chemical--not offputting, not nasty, just chemical--on the fruit. Somewhat extracted flavors include pineapple and lemon. Doesn't earn it's $35ish price tag.
2006 DeLille Cellars Cabernet Sauvignon 'Grand Ciel' Red Mountain
Decanted one hour. Garnet red color, med-full body, bold black cherry fruit with tobacco and iron-rich minerality--very Californian in style, and that's a compliment. Silky tannins slide you into a long finish. Stellar.
2012 Three Rivers Winery Merlot Columbia Valley WA
Burly black and blue fruit, gritty tannins that came across like coffee grounds, low(er) acidity. For me, in a six-wine tasting, last place but for a wine that oxidized somewhat in the glass. But to be fair: it was the big winner among the other tasters (who generally prefer low acidity).
2010 Fidelitas Merlot Columbia Valley WA
With five years' bottle age, this has progressed to a very nice plateau. Pretty, black WA merlot fruit with all the chocolate and espresso notes of good WA merlot and cashmere-soft tannins.
2012 Colene Clemens Pinot Noir 'Margo' Chehalem Mountains OR
Big and tannic. A bottle opened Friday and finished Sunday showed very little evolution. Will be great in a few years but it's rough-going now.
