Shared this dinner wine w/ John this afternoon:
1. Rocca del Principe Dd'OP: Irpinia Aglianico (14.5%; http://www.IndigenousSelections.com) Fabrizio Aurelia/Lapio/Campania 2011: Dark color; strong plummy/boysenberry/black cherry cola/DrPepper slight alcoholic/fumey some PasoMourv-like light earthy/loamy interesting nose; soft/lush bit alcoholic/hot strong plummy/DrPepper some earthy/loamy flavor w/ some hard/rough tannins; med.long rather hard/rough/rustic plummy/black cherry cola/earthy/loamy finish w/ modest rough/hard/coarse tannins; no hot climate character to speak of & quite clean & well-made; much like a Paso Mourv but harder & a bit rustic. $21.00 (KK)

A wee BloodyPulpit:
1. Not of the same calibre of their Fiano I had ystrday, but still much better than I expect from Calabria. Doesn't hold a candle to the Ryme, though. Another grape they should be pursuing in Calif. Needs to have the fierce tannins tamed a bit.

Tom, if you allow me to pick nits, I think we are talking about Campania here not Calabria. Correct me if I'm wrong but I don't think Calabria does Aglianico and Fiano and if does N'drangheta rather than Camorra :D .
