Sometimes things change

by Lou Kessler » Sun Sep 20, 2015 8:14 pm

Digging through inventory sheets and saw I had two bottles of 75 Leoville Las Cases that I had buried when I found them to be hard and undrinkable 20 years ago. I pulled one out to try with loin lamb chops I was barbequeing that evening and lo & behold the wine was drinking fabulously. Still a dark ruby color with just a hint of bricking on the very edges, nose of lead pencil, black fruits, spices etc,as the wine sat in the glass. I remember many people saying the 75 bordeauxs would probably never come around. Could be others but not the LLC. One of the few times my wife and I finished a whole bottle at dinner. Fourty years since harvest, alcohol 12 percent. :D :D

What a great story of a wonderful tasting, Lou! Couldn't have happened to nicer people. :D And thanks for sharing.
