CTN: Negroni Sabbath at Nostrana

The Negroni Sabbath was created by Ashtin Berry of Herb & Bitter Public House in Seattle, WA, and is being featured as the specialty negroni of the month at Nostrana.

To Wild Turkey Rye 101, add Lustau Oloroso Sherry, Amaro Meletti, Campari, and caramelized orange oil. Stir thoroughly with ice, strain into a cocktail coupe and garnish with a twist of citrus.

The Negroni Sabbath is deep and dark, starkly intense, forward with an alcohol bite, and laced throughout with different elements of bitterness, sometimes herbal, sometimes fruity. It is a boozy thing, rich and savory, and as an aperitif cocktail it performs marvelously well, making the senses come alive, stimulating the saliva glands and, not coincidentally making one ready for the strozzapreti pasta in beef and pork ragu that is on its way.
