The wine pours with a deep ruby hue that is considerably richer than that of most regular Gamays.
Shy on the nose, with black-cherry fruit in the background. There isn't the peppery spice that I remember there being in previous vintages. Still, it's perfectly appealing for the fruit itself.
A dense mouth feel greets the palate. Good structure and balance, with a good amount of tannin as well. This is a very substantive wine and not at all what I think of when I think of regular Gamay.
Brisk, dry and quite fleshy on the fore- and mid-palate. It has a good, dry finish.
This goes well with red meat dishes because of its structural heft.
