A white wine from South Africa and red wine from Oregon

2011 Paul Cluver Estate Chardonnay, Elgin, South Africa. 13.5% abv. Medium gold color with clarity. Apple and tropical scents. Tastes rich and full-bodied. The bottle had no cork and seemed to lack an effective seal--it may have been somewhat oxidized. My second and final bottle of this.

2009 Domaine Serene Pinot Noir, Oregon. 14.2% abv. Not the Evenstad. Dark red color. Flavor profile is dark fruits--blueberries and the like. Lacks the finesses of the Evenstad but is enjoyable in its own way. I had it with meatballs.

JC, Paul Cluver's going to be in our area next month and I'll get a chance to taste with him. Will pay attention to closures!
My wine shopping and I have never had a problem. Just a perpetual race between the bankruptcy court and Hell.--Rogov
