Stumbled across this GemischterSatz in SantaFe ystrday, so cracked it w/ my salad last night:
1. IJ G Groiss GemischterSatz Dorflagen NiederOsterreich (LN 176/15; 12.5%; TA: 0.67; RS: 0.24%; www.Ingrid-Groiss.At; EA; CircoVino) BreitenWaida/Austria 2014: Pale yellow near colorless; lovely quite stony/minerally very floral/R-like/pineapple/mango/spicy/bit GV-like very attractive/perfumed complex nose; rather tart/steely/metallic/chalky/mineral/stony/tangy some mango/pineapple/floral/bit R-like somewhat austere flavor; very long quite tart/tangy/metallic/steely/mineral/stony austere light mango/pineapple/floral slight peppery/GV-like complex lovely finish; rather austere & mineral for an Austrian white but an absolutely terrific food wine (that's a compliment) that I think will go out 10 yrs or more. $22.49 (SFW&S)

A wee BloodyPulpit:
1. GemischterSatz: This is a wine unique to the area around Vienna. It is a blended wine of at least 3 varieties, often more, often from old interplanted vnyds. Sort of a retro field-blend. I was first introduced to GS by MattRorick/Forlorn-Hope when he made his first GS, a field blend of a bunch of different Germanic/Austrian varieties grown at MokulumneGlen vnyd in Lodi. I was so taken by Matt's GS, that I've been seeking out as many of the Austrian versions as I can find. This was one of the best I've had from Austria. This Groiss GS was made from 17 different varieties and 50 yr old vines.

2. Groiss: I'd never encountered the wines of Ingrid Groiss before. From this GS, I was mightly impressed and hope that I can find more of them here in NM.
