WTN: 2010 Selbach-Oster Schlossberg Kabinett

by David M. Bueker » Mon Aug 31, 2015 8:43 pm

Back in 2011, the 2010 Selbach-Oster Zeltinger Schlossberg Riesling Kabinett was the best wine I had from the 2010 vintage. I blew through a bunch of bottles back then. Of course the new vintage came along, and it was time to check in on other things. Then the next vintage came along (that 2012 was another rock star wine) and the next.

Tonight I am drinking a bottle of the 2010 Zeltinger Schlossberg again, and it's as great as I remember it from release. It is still a Kabinett, as the interplay of acidity, sweetness and extract dances rather than treads across the palate. The balance is nearly feinherb and it complements food as well as stands up for itself. There is no such thing as a perfect wine, but there is a perfect wine for a moment.

Not as much of a fan of 2011 Bob. Acids were abnormally low. If the 2012 ever shows up buy it!

Read this thinking "I've got some of this" but alas it's the Sonnenuhr Kab.
Too bad (but I doubt the Sonnenuhr is a slouch, should dig one out)

I think you'll do just fine. The Sonnenuhr is likely a touch richer.
