Grigioni in the Valtelline??

by TomHill » Wed Aug 26, 2015 9:54 am

Was reading again ystrday the Julian Street wine book, published in 1948. I had originally read it and gave a book report on it in ole lady Moffat's First grade class at Noble Prentis grade school...but it was not well-received by her.
But in the back in a list of the wines of the Valtelline, it lists the usual Grumello/Sassella/Inferno/Valgella, but it also lists a Grigioni.
Anybody know what happened to that wine?? Google doesn't help me here.

Tom:

Switzerland is over the border from Valtellina where an Italian-Swiss Grigioni DOC exists in the Canton of Graubunden. Start there.

Almost, Steve.

A large number of Italian Swiss from Ticino found their way to Northern California and were among the first farmers to sign up with Andrea Sbarboro and the Italian Swiss Colony company.
