WTN: 2010 Cappellano Barbera Gabutti

2010 Cappellano Barbera d'Alba Gabutti - Italy, Piedmont, Alba, Barbera d'Alba (8/22/2015)
Bright, red fruited, with spicy and herbal accents, this is about as complete a Barbera as I have ever had. There's a tartness in the mid-palate that makes it very food friendly, and the overall depth is greater than the richness, so it carries great intensity without substantial weight. Lovely wine.

More so than Conterno’s Cascina Francia? Which is almost an unfair comparison to most Barbera.

Regardless, sounds like a great match for a dish with your newly-made fresh tomato sauce!

I've loved older (60s and 70s) Cappellano nebbiolo, but no memories of recent wines.That said, someone suggested their Dolcetto to me last year, sounds like at least in the "lesser" varieties they are still strong, will keep eyes open
