Tried this last night w/ friends:
1. Jaffurs PetiteSirah ThompsonVnyd/SBC (ArchibaldCuvee; 15.8%) 2004: Very dark/black color w/ no signs of bricking; very intense boysenberry/blackberry/PS/slight peppery rather toasty/charred/smokey/oak very primary nose; soft/rich/lush/mouthfilling very strong smokey/vanilla/toasty/oak intense boysenberry/blackberry/PS/spicy/bit peppery slight earthy flavor w/ some hard/angular/drying tannins; very long very intense blackberry/boysenberry/peppery/PS/spicy rather toasty/charred/oak finish w/ ample hard/drying tannins; has a huge amount of primary PS fruit but seems to be drying out a bit on the palate; aging at a glacial pace, carries the alcohol well. $26.00

1. This was the 2'nd yr of the famed Jaffurs ArchibaldCuvee. This PS is one of the best PS's being made in Calif these days. Not sure this wine is going to outlive its tannins though.
