WTN: Rosé week: 2014 Tercero

2014 Tercero Mourvedre Rosé Vogelzang Vineyard - USA, California, Central Coast, Santa Barbara County (8/1/2015)
I like rose made with Mourvèdre. I like that it has a little more substance than most rosé. This Rosé holds true to that form. The early red fruit and floral tones are supplemented by a lurking bass note, a foundation that carries through the finish. It provides a textural richness without extra weight. Very well done Larry.

I have had a wide range of California Rosé this summer. I think that this, the Kutch and the Matthiasson were my favorites, but each for very different reasons. The Tercero has the most guts. The Kutch the most complexity, and the Matthiasson the most refreshment value. So three way time for first with different prizes. Well done all.
