WTN: 2007 Produttori del Barbaresco

by David M. Bueker » Fri Jul 24, 2015 8:45 pm

2007 Produttori del Barbaresco Barbaresco - Italy, Piedmont, Langhe, Barbaresco (7/24/2015)
First time trying this since release, and it has loosened up a good bit. It's still very tannic on the back end, and gets more tannic nice with air. That being said there is a good bit of red fruit, and hints of floral elements as well. Overall this is shaping up to be more classic than I might have expected based on the reputation of the vintage.

Given that it can still be purchased for under $30, very much so.

One of my all time most consistently reliable brands of one of my favorite wine regions.

When it comes to Produttori, I seldom even care about the vintage. It may not be stellar, but it will be sturdy and satisfying.

Yes, they tend to have an expressive style of boldness and tannin---but what's so wrong with that.? They still mature out so elegantly that it takes the breath away. Soul satisfying, and still on this side of affordable.

This one can take a good bit of age in my estimation. It has better structure than the 2009.
