2014 Harrington "Symetry"

by Brian K Miller » Thu Jul 23, 2015 10:48 am

This is an interesting one...a blend of 50% Pinot and 50% TROUSSEAU!

Nose is definitely earthy, savory, "natural wine" plum skin. These elements follow through nicely on the palate, with more richness and weight than I anticipated, but still very much plum skin, mushroom, earth, black cherry, and black tea...definitely black tea.

A very interesting blend! Did not take notes on the vineyard sources (and his website does not actually list or describe the individual wines he is offering!) but we quite enjoyed this at VINI on Second Street in Davis last night!

Is this connected with Brad Harrington or just the same last name?

This is Bryan Harrington. He makes his wine in the industrial district of SanFrancisco. Started out as a Pinot producer
but has segued, big time, into more obscure varietals. Had dinner w/ him a week ago. Great guy & worth checking out.

Interesting, Tom! I bet that was a great lunch!

I have really enjoyed many of Bryan's wines over the past couple of years. A wine bar in Davis I frequent uses a distributor with many "natural" wines of his school!
