I am a club member at Da Vero Cellars, a small winery near Healdsburg, participated in a "mini-passport" event this weekend, so I was able to try some new wineries! Their 2007 Homage to Bea Sagratino!!!! blend was delicious, earthy yet bright and very savory and showing nice bottle age already! The whites were also delicious as well.
CHRISTOPHER CREEK, on Limerick Lane, was quite impressive, if extremely expensive. They had an amazing "Westside Road" 2014 Pinot Noir barrel sample that was blazingly good, with mushroom and forest floor and lovely black fruit. Quite impressive. The Petaluma Gap sample was also delicious.
EVERETT RIDGE was a very chill place to visit, with amazing views, pizza, and some very nice Petit Sirah, Anderson Valley Pinot and a nice dry Riesling.
Also visited Preston Family. I really enjoyed the Sauvignon Blanc and Viogner (a light, bright style which I prefer) and a bright, savory tomato-leafy zinfandel (VGS or something like that-from a special block of vines) Plus, I can also chat about cycling with one of the young guys who works there!
2011 Stags Leap Wine Cellars SLV. I know the pricing is ridiculous, but this is one of the most Bordeauxesque California cabs I have had! Fantastic savory, earthy character already very approachable.
