WTN: Zin-Phomaniac Zin Reserve '12...(short/boring)

by TomHill » Mon Jul 13, 2015 8:28 am

This came from another orphan stash that had stood upright on my sideboard for 2 days:
1. Zin-Phomaniac Zin Reserve SonomaCnty (OldVines; 14.6%; www.ZinPho.com) Sonoma 2012: Med.dark color; bit alcoholic/fumey/hot strong blackberry/Zin/raspberry slightly herbal/rosemary light vanilla/oak/toasty nose w/ no obvious dusty/OV character; quite tart/lean some blackberry/Zin/raspberry rather alcoholic/hot light toasty/oak flavor w/ some sharp/bitey tannins; med. raspberry/Zin/blackberry light toasty/oak fairly tart/lean/angular finish w/ rather hard/bitey/sharp tannins; no dusty/OV character that I can find; pleasant enough Zin nose but pretty hard/severe/angular on the palate; no appealing virtues other than a vaguely erotic label. $19.50 (KK)

A wee BloodyPulpit:
1. This is a wine from OffBeat Brands. Michael Kenton/CEO and XavierBatlle/Owner-partner. Never heard of them. Also the folks behind the JellyBean wines. The WebSite is clear that the brand is all about marketing. No idea who makes the wine.
