Tried these two last night:
1. Villa Russiz Sauvignon de la Tour DOC: Collio (14%; www.VillaRussiz.It; Imptd: NeilEmpson) Capriva del Friuli 2007: Light gold color; quite earthy/duusty slight herbal/melony/SB/perfumed talc bit stony/chalky/mineral bit complex nose; lightly tart rich/lush quite earthy/dusty some herbal/SB/melony/ripe rather chalky/perfumed talc bit tangy/grapefruity flavor; long lightly tart/tangy chalky/mineral/grapefruity some herbal/SB bit complex finish; some like a PouillyFume but much richer; rather lean/eviscerated foor a Friuli SB; way overpriced at $58.50 (KK)

2. Russiz Superiore Sauvignon DOC: Collio (13.5%; www.MarcoFelluga.It; Imptd: DallaTerra) Capriva del Friuli 2010: Med.gold color; rather perfumed/fragrant/floral/pineapple/mango slight herbal/SB light earthy rather perfumed/aromatic fresh/clean/bright nose; lightly tart ripe/lush/mango/floral/melony very light/herbal/SB slight earthy/tangy/metallic very attractive flavor; very long/lingering lush/ripe/melony/mango lightly herbal/SB slight stony/mineral lovely finish; reminds me of the DryCreekVnyd SauvMusque but not quite as flowery; one of the best Friuli SB's I've had. $30.00 (KK)

A wee BloodyPulpit:
1. I was pretty disappointed in the VillaRussiz. Very strongly earthy/dusty/Kansas root cellar; it had a bit of a fusty character that suggested TCA. But I kept going back to it and was unable to get a definite TCA signature. Same thing this morning. May be just too old.

2. Not a big fan of SB's and don't try many from Collio, but I saw the Felluga and wanted to give it a try. Susan&I will be staying one night at their Agriturismo on Oct and thought I'd try it for background. Glad I did.
