2013 Dirty and Rowdy Mourvedre Antle Vineyard - USA, California, Central Coast, Chalone (6/28/2015)
Having now drank 5 different D&R Mourvèdre bottlings, I can say that the Antle Vineyard is the most conventional. That is no insult. Served with our local beef burgers, this was just a joy. Deep berry fruit, subtle tannin and a background herbal elements made this a perfect food companion, and delicious on its own as well. Only light to medium weight, this is still a bit unusual for Mourvèdre. Bottom line is that it is a fun, delicious and rewarding drink. If you want to introduce people to D&R , this is the wine to do it.
