Greatest theme yet! The person who came up with this one should get free MoCool for life!

Where are the photos from last year? Never understand with this event why we all here never see some of the action out there.

Bob,
As in the past, I think the main reason for the lack of photos here is the tedious process of uploading them. I know you do not Facebook, but folks find it easier to post their pics there. There are pictures of MoCools past on our website:

www.mocool.org Check it out! Or better yet...come join us!!

Folks,

Registrations are rolling in at a good clip! Some people have registered more than one person, but only listed one name. We need all the names of the participants to make labels and such... Please go back to the sign up and drop Mike Hughes a note filling him in on who's in your party, if you have neglected to do that. Thank you!!

Do you realize this time next month, you will be home (or nearly so) after experiencing the greatest wine event of the year? You will be ruminating on the differences between the 95 and 2000 vintages of Pegau. Marveling that you had the opportunity to taste such a delightful and enlightening Beaucastel vertical. Pondering the nuances of terroir in the Rayas.

Oh!..and the food! Your mouth waters at the thought. As if you've attended several 5 star restaurants all in the same place. What a great time was had with all of those wonderful people, old friends, new friends...did you dream this?? NO! It was real. You were there...but only if you remembered to sign up! Make haste..this is a memory you don't want to miss!

We should write MoCool carols! Like Rudolph the red cheeked wineaux! (or was this song always about Bob Stark?)

So, what wines is everyone bringing?
I'm thinking 95 Beaucastel, 95 La Chapelle and 06 Bink Mendocino Syrah.
I'll probably throw another bottle or two in there as well...

I'd like to see a vertical of Beaucastel. By default, I'll probably bring the '89 and '90, but if someone else wants to bring those, I've got 11 other vintages between '94 and '10 to choose from.

Ted,
I think you are on to something! I bet a Beaucastel vertical could be arranged. If you and Dave also want to run this discussion on Facebook, as well, I'm sure you'll get responses.
Vacationing in beautiful northern Michigan now, so I'll have to wait until I'm home to decide which wines I'm taking.

Ted/Dave re: Beaucastel

Copying info from FB, I will bring the 99 Beau. It is reported on FB that the 01 is covered. Looks like Dick Wilson and I will acquire the 85 and 88 although they are not in hand yet.

I am thinking of a 2000 Chapoutier Hermitage La Sizeranne although that could be replaced by an 03 Brune et Blonde or an 05 Chateau d'Ampuis. Other bottles traveling north with me will probably include a Mont-Redon white CdP, a back vintage Tahbilk Marsanne (for BobH), an 02 The Shadow, and perhaps a Rocks & Gravel.
Cheers!

I agree, James! This is the best "family" reunion ever!! Come join the clan!

:Staying at Best Western of Whitmore Lakes MoCool weekend? Are you hoping to bump into friends bearing wine..perhaps, pull together an impromptu tasting? It's a lot easier to connect if you add your name to the list of BW wineaux that I will compile, and disseminate, for your drinking pleasure. It beats wistfully walking around with an empty glass!

I'm bringing a 2006 Pierre Usseglio & Fils CdP de mon Aieul and a 2007 Vieux Telegraphe CdP "La Crau." I took other bottles of these to an offline the end of June and thought they were drinking well. I will probably bring two California Pinot Noirs from Sonoma Coast for the off-theme table and possibly a white Burgundy and a red Burgundy for Friday evening.
I may have a 2004 Beaucastel to add to the vertical but wouldn't count on it because I'm not sure it is where my CT notes indicate. Will check for it tomorrow.
Okay, I found the 2004 Beaucastel and will bring it for the vertical but it is only a 375 ml. bottle.

Okay, it's decision time. Seriously considering, 07 Dom Bois de Boursan Cuvee des Felix., and 11 Bois de Boursan blanc. Also in the running 07 Xavier Cuvee Anonyme X, 09 Le Vieux Donjon, and 05 Alain Jaume Vieux Terron. This has been a real eye opener for how young my CdP collection has become! Where have all the flowers gone...long time passing?
Also, I could bring the 05 Ch D'Ampuis Cote-Rotie but that is sheer infanticide.

Have to say that the Friday night MoCool preliminary bouts were pretty damn good. Tomorrow should be stellar.
