JoskoGravner Article

Interesting article by AdamLechmere on JoskoGravner:
Gravner

One thing that I found interesting:
Gravner wrote:Bottles should always be stored upright, Gravner explains, to allow the cork to facilitate a communication between the universe and the wine.
.

We have been told by the "authorities" that we must store them on their sides in order to keep the corks moist and so they don't dry out and fall into the wine. Opening many of my old btls over the last year, many of which have been "stored" standing upright, I see little evidence to support that the corks dry out and fail to seal.
OTOH, I fail to see how the wine cannot "communicate w/ the universe" on their side. The guy's a nut.

Unconventional, to be sure. The amphora wines suggest that. But having spent a couple of days with Josko and his son in Oslavia a few years ago, I'd say he's also a gracious and kind gentleman with a very active wine-making imagination. I don't think I can second the motion on "nut."

Robin,
I made that characterization based on his "wine communicating w/ the universe thru the cork".
I'm stickin' to it.

I can't quibble as far as the nuttiness of the concept is concerned, TomHill!

On the other hand, i thought the amphorae were nutty until I tasted the wine. Or maybe I was just excited because they smuggled me across the Italy-Slovenia border without a visa back in the day ...
