2014 Dirty and Rowdy Mourvedre 'ESPECIAL' Santa Barbara Highlands Vineyard - USA, California, Central Coast, Santa Barbara County (6/17/2015)
Mourvèdre nouveau? Not sure that is exactly what I am going for here, but the freshness of the red fruit and the overall brightness of the wine send me in that direction. Beyond that this is in no way a throwaway like some third Thursday pop culture celebration. It has a creamy element on the palate that gives the wine more breadth and depth, and the fruit elements are joined by some earthy elements and warm herbs. As usual I am surprised by a Dirty & Rowdy wine, and in a good way.
