Lets talk Savoie, well the whites anyway!

Doing a search on this site, there are many references to the reds that are produced in this area but I would like to mention the dry whites which I guess would appeal to my palate. Not much selection up here in my area from Savoie and nearby Jura, but one enterprising wine store is bringing in Domaine de l`Idylle.

WTN: 2013 Domaine de l`Idylle Vin de Savoie Cruet Vielles Vignes.

100% Jacquere grape, $24 Cdn, 11.5% alc, good natural cork.

The colour is a medium straw, no green tinges. Quite a mineral nose with lemon, stoney, pear and unripe green apple. Initial entry thought is dry, almost Muscadet-like. More apple and pear with mineral tones on the finish. "Enticing acidity" from across the table. Lean citrus finish but quite tasty, I served quite chilled initially. Terrific with boneless wings tossed in chilly sauce and salad.

Which wines have punters here come across in their local area? Here is the food you need!!

Had a few very interesting ones just last month, Bob! Here's the notes:

Oh dear! I should be able to participate in this thread but I see very few Savoie wines around here from producers whose names are familiar to me. I haven't a single one in my cellar and that is because I drink them up quickly when I have them.

To keep things moving while I go out and search for further bottles, here is a TN on a Chignin Bergeron picked up in last autumn's Foires aux Vins -

2012 Les fils de René Quenard Vin de Savoie Chignin-Bergeron Les Tours - France, Savoie, Vin de Savoie Chignin-Bergeron (10/24/2014)
The back label claims that this wine is made from very old Roussanne vines. It has a lot of the characteristics of Roussanne derived wines from the Rhône and further south, namely white fruit and an underlying roundness, flesh and generosity, and adds, much to its advantage IMO, attractive minerality, lively acidity and some backbone. Good+ .
