Interesting wine from inland Mendocino County! Winery is in Hopland with a tasting room in industrial Oakland (right on the main bicycle route between West Oakland BART and downtown Oakland).

Pretty reddish-purple/cherry color. Nose is a little reticent. On the palate, licorice, cherry skin, a savory or even slightly "bitter" core which adds interest. Complemented the pork chop with apple syrup crust quite nicely. There could be a hint of ripeness, even over-ripeness here, but there is bracing acidity that keeps it quite fresh and delicious.
