2007 Vollenweider Wolfer Goldgrube Riesling Spätlese Goldkapsel - Germany, Mosel Saar Ruwer (6/14/2015)Several years ago this was a beast of a wine. It mowed down everything in its path. Now with some age it has settled into a pretty, balanced mix of orange and tropical fruit. There is still no hint of maturity, but there is drinkability. The wine nearly evaporates from the glass. It has plenty of depth to age and wait for maturity, but is also quite irrestible now.

Nice.
Have you by any chance tasted the 09 WG Spatlese Goldkap recently? I have a few bottles and was planning to forget about them for a while.

Rahsaan,
I do not own any 2009 Vollenweider. There is a gaping hole in my collection from 2008-2011.

Rahsaan, the 09 could be enjoyed now, but cellaring it is even better, IMHO.

Thanks. Will try to hold off as long as possible (am also still waiting on 05 WG Auslese that has shown no signs of budging from its fat round simple richness)

If you are waiting for the 05 to taste more of wine than pear juice concentrate, I guess you will have to wait 5+ years, perhaps more.

That goes for more than Vollenweider. Lots of 2005s need a ton of time.
