A wee BloodyPulpit:
1. Ridge made their first LyttonSprings Zin in 1972 and continued for several yrs afterwards. Eventually, owner DickSherwin started making his own wine under the LS label and Ridge eventually gave up the vnyd. The LS/LS Zins were always pretty big, extracted, a bit funky/bretty sometimes, and not as clean as the Ridge LS Zins.
Ridge bought the LS vnyd in 1991 and resumed making a Ridge LS Zin again. Since the LS/LS Zin had a certain following, Ridge continued to make a Lytton/Lytton for a few yrs, in a bit different style. It was never made clear to me exactly how the made the Ridge LS and the LS/LS differently, but they definitely were different wines. Eventually, Ridge dropped the LS/LS label. The LS/LS label was always a bit on the plug-ugly side, but it always brings back some fond memories.
