Chalk Hill AVA. Orange wine (quite a lengthy period on skins I understand). With apple-glazed pork chops and spicy sweet potato hash-which was a great match, actually!
This is an orange wine that benefited from a chill! Definite orange color! Savory phenolics on the nose and the palate. Medium mouthfeel-not a ton of acidity here* but does not come across as flat in any way. Flavors of cider and orange and citrus skin really went well with the pork chops. As I noted above, I thought it was better colder than room temperature.
An interesting wine!
* The next day I sampled a Donkey and Goat orange PG which was much more bracing in character, with definitely more acid. Not sure which I preferred (I am an acid hound!) but it was interesting to taste the different versions in the same weekend
