2005 Albert Boxler Muscat Brand - France, Alsace, Alsace Grand Cru (5/15/2015)
Another bottle from the BYO Chinese dinner. This one was actually more youthful than the Gewurztraminer, which surprised me. I have never thought about Muscat as age worthy, and in fact this bottle was essentially forgotten in the cellar until the dinner came up. It still showed lots of floral tones, some citrus zest and the beginnings of a more spiced/aged tone. It actually became fresher the longer it was open. It was dry, refreshing and a good counterpoint to the more subtle dishes. Excellent wine that sadly is very hard to find these days.
