Refreshing, savory, bright and persistent, this hit all the right buttons. The red fruit was ever so slightly creamy in the mid-palate, and carried through the finish. The persistence was impressive, especially for a light bodied wine.
I do not have a lot of experience wih Trousseau, but so far this is my favorite.
Yup, David...Trousseau (Noir) can make a very pretty wine. Lots of light-weight cherry fruit. Reminds me a lot of Schiava
or PetiteRouge from the AltoAdige. The Trousseaus from France are much the same, w/ a more earthy/loamy/rustic
character.
And, in Calif, there is some old-vine TrousseauGris (the Gris version of TrousseauNoir), that used to be known as
GrayRiesling. They make some quite pretty roses from those grapes.
RajPaar has a StolpmanVnyd Trousseau (Noir) that's also quite pretty.
