WTN: 1998 Chevillon NSG 1er Cru Les Cailles

1998 Domaine Robert Chevillon Nuits St. Georges 1er Cru Les Cailles - France, Burgundy, Côte de Nuits, Nuits St. Georges 1er Cru (5/13/2015)
90 minutes of slow ox took this wine from tight and volatile, to aromatic and velvety. Red fruit, floral, leather, subtle spice and earth all worked together in a seamless whole. Served with roasted duck breast it was a masterpiece of wine and food pairing. I would gladly drink this now and over the next decade plus. It is just beautiful.

When I was at college in London studying hotel and restaurant management, I used to buy (infrequently) Volnay and NSG...gosh the prices in those days (late 60s/early 70s) were excellent. So always envious of your notes David .

This particular bottle was still in the $40s. Sadly the Chevillon Cailles now tops $110 in the USA. It has been several years since I last bought any.
