Molitor Wehlener Sonnenuhr Auslese *** 2012

by Fredrik L » Wed May 13, 2015 3:32 am

So WA has appointed a new guy to cover Germany and this guy has decided to give out 100 points, because being in that position you have the right - no, the obligation - to do so. The fact is that the wine is not bad at all: thick, young and promising, with a creaminess à la Dani V. Might be the best I had from WS if you exclude JJ Prüm´s. I wonder what will happen to the pricing.

Has WA ever awarded 100 points to a truly dry white? For the avoidance of doubt, I don't include most Cal-Chard, or indeed most Chard from anywhere except Chablis, in this category.

I no longer have access to the on line archive, but I do not think any dry white wine has ever achieved 100. Several German wines have, notably Dönnhoff's Eiswein, which got that number for the 2001 from Antonio Galloni.

Galloni? Pierre-Antoine Rovani, IIRC.
