WTN: Harrington PinotNoir CoastGrade '13..(short/boring)

Shared my dinner wine ystrday w/ John:
1. Harrington PinotNoir CoastGradeVnyd/BonnyDoon/SantaCruzMtns (14.1%; 45 cs) 2013: Med.light color; very bright black cherry/cherry/PN/cola/spicy some SCM/earthy/dusty light pencilly/smokey/oak quite attractive nose; quite tart/tangy some SCM earthy/dusty strong black cherry/PN/cherry/spicy/cola light smokey/oak flavor w/ modest/bitey tannins; very long quite tart/tangy bright/black cherry/PN/black cherry cola some SCM/earthy light smokey/oak finish w/ some green tannins; a rather tart/edgy PN that speaks strongly of SCM earthy terroir but not lean/eviscerated or green/underripe and plenty of PN flavor; the 14.1% seems overstated given the acidity; needs at least a yr yet and should go out 5-8 yrs; I guess a Pinot that has what they call nervosity. $40.00

1. I have, of course, followed BryanHarrington's wines from the very start. His original passion was to make PinotNoir but he heard the siren song of off-beat varieties and now makes a lot of very interesting stuff. But his Pinots remain his bread & butter wines and he makes very good ones in a more elegant/restrained style for Calif.
