WTN: The wine with the Midas touch

by David M. Bueker » Sat May 09, 2015 5:17 pm

2005 St. Urbans-Hof Piesporter Goldtropfchen Riesling Auslese
A good friend brought out a bottle of this last night, and it showed very, very well. I expect that it was farther along than might have been, as it did not come from a pristine cellar. All that being said, the wine was a delicious mix of ripe tropical fruit, a touch of honey and a distinct note of black tea. As a combination it was magnificent. Ten years of age brought the sweetness into harmony with the lower '05 level of acidity, such that the wine was in a perfect place for drinking on its own, and with our subtly spiced Indian meal.

We're supposed to guess? Oh good, I love games! But I need more clues.
My wine shopping and I have never had a problem. Just a perpetual race between the bankruptcy court and Hell.--Rogov
