KevinWhiteWnry La Fraternite Red Wine Upland Vineyard/Olsen Estates/Boushey Vineyard/Yakima Valley (46% Grenache/46% Mourvèdre/8% Syrah; 14.5%; 269 cs) 2013: Med.color; some toasty/oak/charred spicy blackberry/Syrah/plummy bit peppery/whole-cluster slight earthy/loamy quite attractive nose; slightly tart some Rhonish/w-c/peppery some strawberry/Grenache/blackberry/plummy/black cherry some toasty/oak attractive flavor w/ light/gentle tannins; very long slight Rhonish/peppery/w-c strong strawberry/plummy/blackberry finish some charred/oak finish w/ light/soft tannins; quite an attractive Rhone blend at a very fair price. $28.00 (vSC)

KevinWhiteWnry En Hommage Syrah Elephant Mountain Vineyard/Olsen Estates/Yakima Valley (263 cs; 14.6%) 2013: Dark color; some alcoholic/fumey very strong blackberry/Syrah/ripe/boysenberry quite lush/plummy/spicy nose; soft/lush/ripe strong Syrah/blackberry/boysenberry/spicy slight earthy flavor w/ modest soft/ripe tannins; med.long soft/lush strong ripe/Syrah/blackberry/spicy light earthy finish w/ some ripe tannins; lots of rich WashState Syrah character at a very fair price. $28.00 (vSC)

KevinWhiteWnry Reserve RW YakimaVlly (14.9%; 67% Syrah/33% Mourv; Boushey & Olsen vnyds; www.KevinWhiteWinery.com) Woodinville 2013: Dark color; very strong Mourv/plummy some blackberry/Syrah some alcoholic/fumey big fruit nose; soft/rich/lush strong plummy/Mourv ripe/blackberry/black cherry/Syrah slight toasty/oak flavor w/ some soft/ripe tannins; very long soft/rich/lush/ripe strong plummy/Mourv/blackberry/Syrah/boysenberry light oak flavor w/ some ripe tannins; shows some alcohol on the nose but not a lot on the palate; would like a bit more structure & backbone but a very delicious drinkable red that could go another 4-6 yrs. $32.00 (vSC)

1. On his last trip to Seattle, SteveCostigan was picking up some buzz on the KevinWhite wines as being a newcomer to watch, so ordered some for us to try. I liked the wines a lot, thought them reasonably priced given the quality; but didn't find them to be really profound or anything.
