Bravo for Jefford, who is not afraid of going off the beaten track. Believe it or not, I have spent a holiday in an apartment in the fascinating old fortified town of Dolceacqua
http://www.dolceacqua.it/ . However, it is a long time ago, '78 or '79, and I am no longer capable of writing a TN of Rossese which we naturally drank copiously. I do recall a wine which was lighter than the Italian red norm which attractive soft fruit and good acidity but, based on what it was then, I think it is a stretch to compare it to village Burgundy.
Thanks to Jefford, and to Tom for posting, I will look for a Rossese to include next time I do an Italian order.
