In the recent WashPost, Dave McIntyre writes on old-vine vnyds in an interesting article:

Including some of our favorite folks, MikeOfficer and Morgan Twain-Peterson. Not a whole lot of new stuff, other than it appears that they have installed drip irrigation at Bedrock (and Pagani). I've little doubt but what it's used in a very stingey manner and used to insure the survival of those old vines.

I would prefer irrigation and survival of old vines than religiously dry farming and needing to replant.
