I Feel Sad for KentRosenblum

by TomHill » Thu Apr 23, 2015 9:56 am

Stumbled across this Diageo site today trying to find info about the Truevee wine that was advertised in the last TheTastingPanel magazine:
Rose'N'Blum

I wonder how Kent feels about having his name debased like that?? I guess it's something you have to live with when you've sold your name. I have never seen any of those labels in my life on any retail shelf. Wonder where Diageo is flogging those wines? TotalWine? BevMore?
Anyway...mildly amusing.

I hope he has plenty of money, because the buyers have made his label into s***.

About a month ago, Trader Joe's had cases and cases of the low-end Rosenblum zinfandel cuvee for $2.99 a bottle. As it happens, I live across the street from Roger, Kent's brother, and when I told him about it he just sighed.

Ernie,
When you see Roger again , tell him "en garde" from LosAlamos. It'll bring a smile to his face.
He used to fence foil...way back when.
I'm sure it's discouraging to Roger & Kent what Diageo has done to a once revered name.

Will do.

The story of how we met is kind of fun. I drove up to my house, and Roger and another neighbor were chatting. The neighbor mentioned that I made wine. Roger asked about it, and I described my fondness for Rhone varietals, the process, etc. I might have been a little cocky about it. Then he said he was in the wine business, I asked his name, "Roger Rosenblum". Oh.

And this week we get the news that Diageo is considering selling off its wine business.
